ScMBOK

Simple Definition of a profession: a type of job that requires special education, training, or skill.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary

The Subcontract Management Body of Knowledge (ScMBOK) represents the seven knowledge and skill areas required to adequately perform duties as a professional Subcontracts Manager (ScM) and/or a Technical Representative (TR) in the execution of publicly-funded contracts.

ScMBOK also includes specific competencies that complement the seven knowledge/skill base areas.  These competencies include, but are not limited to, leadership skills, communication skills, negotiation skills and critical decision-making skills.  ScMBOK contains a Code of Ethics; its purpose is to promote proper and upright conduct by all who associate with ScMI.

ScMBOK is the basis for the ScMI© Subcontract Management Certification Program (ScMCP) that contains three pedagogical methodologies:

  1. Formal Training;
  2. Self-Study;
  3. Experiential Training/Performance
