The Learning Management System facilitates registration, testing, and documentation for the individual and the employer.

Professional achievement is one of the most important motivators for training and education participants.  An understanding of the basic principles that influence adult learning makes training more effective.

Research indicates that learning will be facilitated if:

  1. Learners are actively involved in the learning process
  2. Learners practice using new knowledge or skill
  3. Learning takes place in an appropriate climate
  4. Learning is based on experience
  5. Learning is problem-centered

The Total Learning Concept© combines the principles of adult learning and customer service into a comprehensive and proven approach to training excellence.

This brief introduction and package of presentation materials have been developed to assist you in meeting a challenging objective:  sharing your knowledge and experience with the participants who will attend training presented by The Federal Market Group (FMG). As a presenter, you are representing yourself and FMG.  Our goal is to present a professionally enriching and substantively sound session. These guidelines, The FMG Total Learning Concept©, have been structured to support the achievement of the following objectives:

  • To assist you in meeting the objectives and reinforcing the major themes of the training requirements;
  • To contribute to ensuring quality and consistency of presentation of the courses;
  • To assist you in preparing for your training presentation.

We are always mindful that no two presentation styles are ever the same.  What is comfortable for one person may be uncomfortable for another. Our intention in providing this package is to encourage its use; it is a proven and highly successful approach.

Here are a few more suggestions to assist you in making your session successful:

  1. Develop a strong introduction and summary. Nothing beats a strong start and a solid ending.
  2. During your introduction, identify with your participants’ expectations.  Learning objectives should be used to frame what you hope to accomplish.  Discuss them in terms of the resulting benefits to the participants.
  3. Personalize the presentation by challenging the participants to translate the subject matter into personal improvements or actions. This is helped by sharing your experiences through anecdotes, mini-case studies, or real-life illustrations.
  4. If the group is small or you are comfortable with participatory presentations, ask various questions to the group.
    • “How can you address this situation?”
    • “What are the benefits of establishing a contract change control system?”

Ensure that questions are open-ended (cannot be answered with a yes or a no answer or a single correct response) to promote participation. Where specific responses can be provided, then, by all means, do so.

  1. Use your hard copy to outline your presentation.  Questions, specific points to make, experiences, and amplifying information should be noted.  This will allow the presentation to flow smoothly and will help participant interest.
  2. Continually summarize and tie topics together with previously presented issues or those to come.  Use section objectives or introductions and summaries for each section.
  3. The key to a successful presentation is preparation.  Try to eliminate any questions you have on the content prior to your session. If you are asked a question and you don’t know the answer, admit it. Ask for help from the audience (as a group, they will have significant experience) or volunteer to find out.
  4. You set the tone. Be friendly, open and enthusiastic.  Your demonstration of a positive attitude contributes almost as much to the success of a session as your professional expertise.  If you have fun, so will the participants.  The topic is important, but not so grave that we can’t make it interesting and enjoyable.

If any questions should come up during your preparation, do not hesitate to contact us.
