Dealing with Subcontractor Cost and Pricing Data
In many circumstances prime contractors are required to evaluate the cost and pricing data of its subcontractors. This analysis results in a detailed understanding of a company’s cost structure, it various cost priorities (such as R&D spending) and its rates and factors. While the review of this confidential business data might be protected by a non-disclosure agreement, such agreements are only as good as the character of the individuals involved. And when the respective companies are competitors in other situations, the sharing of such data presents a myriad list of other issues and complexities.
